Start with a mill assessment

Ninety minutes with your rolling, quality and OT leads. We map the line, the systems and the losses, and give you a ranked list of workflows by expected payback — whether or not you buy anything.

Book a mill assessment

Tell us about the line. The more specific you are about the losses you already know about, the more useful the ninety minutes will be.

What happens in the ninety minutes

  • Line walk-throughStands, sensors, Level-2, inspection and historian — mapped against our connector library live.
  • Loss rankingOff-gauge, shape, surface, property, chatter and energy, ranked by what they are worth on your tonnage and coil value.
  • Instrumentation gapsAn honest list of what you would need to add, if anything, for the top-ranked workflow.
  • A recommendationIncluding “not yet” if the wedge will not pay back. We would rather say that now than in month nine.

Assessments can be run under NDA. We do not require access to any system to complete one.

We reply within one business day. No data leaves your plant during evaluation.

Next steps

What follows an assessment

No pressure to proceed at any step, and the assessment itself is free.

  1. STEP 01

    Assessment report

Within five business days: ranked workflows, expected payback, instrumentation gaps and our honest recommendation.

  2. STEP 02

    Paid pilot proposal

If the wedge looks strong, a scoped 8–12 week pilot at the Line rate, creditable against year one.

  3. STEP 03

    Security review

Your OT and security teams get the architecture pack and as much of our time as they need.

  4. STEP 04

    Shadow mode

Edge node installed read-only. Nothing writes to your mill until your team promotes it.

Questions worth having answers to

You will get more out of the conversation with these to hand — but none of them are prerequisites.

Which line hurts most

Tonnage, coil value and the loss you would fix first if you could fix one.

What you measure today

Prime yield definition, energy per tonne, scrap and cobble rate, and how each is calculated.

Your Level-2 and historian

Vendor and version. This determines connector effort more than anything else.

Inspection and shape systems

What is installed, what is trusted and what is quietly ignored by the pulpit.

Your OT constraints

Segmentation rules, change-control process and who has to approve a write path.

Who would champion it

The rolling or quality engineer who wants this to work. Deployments without one do not succeed.

Offices

Where we are

Distributed, close to the mills.

Steelira is a distributed company with engineers positioned near design-partner sites in Europe, India and Türkiye. Deployment engineers travel to plants weekly during shadow and assist phases, which is where most of the real work happens.

[UNKNOWN] Registered office details and legal entity information are provided directly on contracts and procurement documentation rather than published here.

For anything time-sensitive on a live line, existing Plant and Enterprise customers should use the 24×7 escalation path in their runbook rather than the addresses above.

Proof

What the first conversation led to

“We ran Steelira in shadow for eight weeks on the tandem mill. It called eleven of the twelve off-gauge tail events before our AGC reacted. That was the moment the argument ended.”
Anders KøhlerRolling Manager, NordStrip Steel
“Our best roller retires in two years. Steelira is the first system that captured how he sets up a hard automotive grade — and then explained why, with the coil history to back it.”
Priya RaghunathanQuality & Metallurgy Manager, Aurum Flat Rolled
“Prime yield moved 1.7 points on the galvanizing line and reheat gas fell double digits. Nothing else we bought this decade did both.”
Marco FeltrinPlant Director, Ferrata Group
Security

OT-safe by construction

Steelira writes to mill equipment, so security and safety are product requirements, not paperwork.

Read the security overview

  • Segmented OT pathEdge runtime sits in a Purdue Level-2/3 DMZ with signed, rate-limited write-back and hard setpoint clamps.
  • Deterministic fallbacksEvery control loop degrades to the mill's existing Level-2 setup on watchdog timeout — the mill never stops because Steelira does.
  • Grade-IP isolationRecipes, grade specs and coil histories are tenant-scoped, encrypted at rest with per-tenant keys, and never used to train another producer's models.
  • Assurance-grade auditEvery perception, recommendation, approval and actuation is written to an immutable, exportable log keyed to coil ID.

The assessment is free, runs under NDA if you prefer, and requires no system access. The worst case is that you leave with a ranked list of your own losses.
